On 16 July, 29 Foundation members from Barcelona and Girona, many accompanied by family members, visited the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute for the first time to discover the research that their support helps make possible.

During the visit, attendees had the opportunity to explore the laboratories, learn about some of the projects currently underway and gain a closer insight into the work of the researchers who seek new answers to leukaemia and other blood diseases every day.

The visit included explanations from Francesc Solé, Senior Group Leader of the Myelodysplastic Syndromes Group, and Albert Pérez, Lab Manager, as well as a welcome from Antoni Garcia Prat, General Manager of the Josep Carreras Foundation.

Beyond the scientific content, the event provided an opportunity to show the tangible impact of our members’ commitment. For many of those attending, particularly patients and their families, it was a chance to understand how their solidarity is transformed into research, new knowledge and new opportunities for patients.

Feedback from participants was very positive, with attendees highlighting that the experience had helped them better understand the Foundation’s work and feel even more connected to our mission.

Following this first experience, our aim is to establish the visit as an annual event and continue creating opportunities for our members to discover first-hand the advances that their commitment also helps make possible.
