We advance in the precise identification of rare cell types through multi-omics integration

At the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, we have taken a step forward in the study of cellular heterogeneity through the integration of single-cell multi-omics data, an approach that enables the simultaneous analysis of different layers of biological information.

Our work shows that combining multiple types of data—such as genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic information—significantly improves the ability to identify rare cell types and states, which often go undetected using conventional techniques.

This approach, based on single-cell analysis technologies, allows us to capture the heterogeneity of tissues with high precision and to better understand complex biological processes, particularly in diseases such as cancer.

Thanks to this data integration, we can gain a more comprehensive view of cellular function and advance in the detection of rare cell populations with clinical relevance, opening new opportunities for the development of more precise diagnostics and targeted therapies.

This progress reinforces our commitment to scientific innovation and the use of cutting-edge technologies to improve the understanding and treatment of hematological diseases.
