Dr Biola M. Javierre, head of the 3D Chromatin Organization Group at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, has received the 6th Young Female Scientific Talent Award in the Biology and Geology category, granted by the Real Academia de Ciencias de España (FRACE) with the support of Mastercard España.
The ceremony, held on 17 February in Madrid, highlighted the importance of promoting female leadership in STEM disciplines. The President of the Academy, Ana Crespo, stressed the need to give visibility to young women researchers who are shaping the future of science in Spain.
Dr Javierre was recognised for her contribution to the diagnosis of haematological diseases and to the understanding of B-cell cancers, key areas for advancing personalised medicine. In her speech, she thanked her team for their dedication and support and dedicated the award to her family, noting that this recognition is “a great motivation to continue conducting research with rigour and passion”.
The event concluded with an inspiring talk by María Jesús Puerta Angulo, who encouraged attendees to pursue their goals with determination.
