We are delighted to share that A Home Away from Home has been selected as one of the projects supported through the ”la Caixa” Foundation’s 2025 Social Projects Call for Proposals in Catalonia.

Through this call for proposals, more than €10.5 million will be allocated to 331 social projects across Catalonia, with the aim of addressing the needs of people in vulnerable situations and helping to build a fairer, more inclusive and supportive society. Altogether, the selected initiatives will reach more than 121,500 people, thanks to the work of 2,665 professionals and over 9,000 volunteers.

The A Home Away from Home programme provides free accommodation to patients with blood cancer and other oncohaematological diseases, as well as their families, when they need to travel far from home to receive treatment at specialist hospitals. More than just temporary housing, these apartments offer stability, comfort and support during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

Yesterday, we attended the event announcing the results of the call for proposals at CosmoCaixa Science Museum in Barcelona, where we had the opportunity to share the day with many other social organisations that, in different fields, work every day to improve people’s quality of life.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the ”la Caixa” Foundation for once again placing its trust in our work. This support will help us continue ensuring that no patient has to forgo the best possible treatment due to financial difficulties or geographical distance.
