Apartamentos 3000 backs childhood leukemia research

The collaboration between Apartamentos 3000 and the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Foundation continues to grow. For the third consecutive project, the company has chosen to support a research initiative focused on childhood leukemia, reaffirming its commitment to scientific progress and to creating new opportunities for a cure for the youngest patients.

Apartamentos 3000 has launched a new fundraising campaign in support of our Foundation. Through this initiative, the company will donate a percentage of the bookings made by its customers during the summer holiday season to help advance childhood leukemia research.

This year, the selected project is the research led by Dr. Pablo Menéndez, a researcher at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute and an internationally recognized expert in the study of pediatric leukemias.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common type of childhood cancer. Although current treatments enable most patients to be cured, some children still experience relapse or do not respond to available therapies. Dr. Menéndez’s project aims to identify new biological vulnerabilities of the disease in order to develop more effective and less toxic treatments for those patients who currently have the fewest therapeutic options.

This new fundraising initiative strengthens a partnership that began a year ago between Apartamentos 3000 and the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Foundation. The company’s first campaign supported the research project led by Dra. Laura Belver , focused on juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia, a rare disease that primarily affects babies and very young children. During the following winter campaign, Apartamentos 3000 chose to support the research of Dra. Biola M. Javierre aimed at identifying new therapeutic targets for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

As Dr. Javierre has highlighted, support from initiatives like this helps advance our understanding of the mechanisms that drive the disease and contribute to its progression, with the ultimate goal of developing more precise treatments with fewer long-term side effects for pediatric patients.
