Expanding Our Network of Patient Accommodation

Recently, we proudly completed the renovation of a new patient accommodation apartment on Marquès de Campo Sagrado Street in Barcelona. This new home will primarily welcome patients receiving treatment at Hospital Clínic Barcelona.

For people facing blood cancers and other serious blood disorders, having a safe and comfortable place to stay close to the hospital can make an enormous difference. Many patients and their families are forced to travel far from home to access specialist treatment, often for weeks or even months. During these difficult times, our apartments become far more than a place to sleep—they become a Home Away from Home, offering comfort, privacy, and a sense of normality when it is needed most.

Thanks to this renovation, the apartment has been transformed into a brighter, more accessible, and welcoming space, ensuring that patients and their loved ones can focus on what truly matters: treatment, recovery, and being together. Investing in these homes means providing compassionate, person-centred support beyond medical care.

This project would not have been possible without the generosity and commitment of the organisations that joined us to make it a reality. At the Josep Carreras Foundation, we are committed to expanding our network of patient accommodation across Spain so that no one must face the burden of illness alone or away from the care they need. Our Patient Accommodation Programme includes both our own apartments and short stays in the charity hotels that partner with us, ensuring that more patients and families can access safe, welcoming accommodation when they need it most.
