“Redefining Social Impact” hand in hand with Worldcoo

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Foundation attended the event “Redefining Social Impact: What Role Does Innovation Play?”, organised by Worldcoo, a space for reflection and exchange between social organisations and professionals committed to social impact.

The session featured an intervention by Sònia Fuertes, Commissioner for Social Action at Barcelona City Council, whose insights on today’s social challenges and the need to continue fostering partnerships between public administrations, social organisations and the private sector to generate real and sustainable change were truly inspiring.

One of the key topics of the event was the role of artificial intelligence in the social sector. Utopiq shared several reflections on how AI is here to stay and the opportunities it represents for the third sector. One idea especially resonated with us: social organisations can — and should — lead the way in promoting a responsible, ethical and inclusive use of these tools.

It was also a pleasure to learn about and hear the projects and experiences shared by the teams from Arrels Fundació, Fundació Espigoladors, Educo and Fundació iSocial, organisations that work every day to address social challenges through innovative and transformative approaches.

The event was hosted by journalist and presenter Elisabet Carnicé, who brought warmth, dynamism and a remarkable ability to connect all the reflections shared throughout the session.

From the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Foundation, we would like to highlight the work carried out by Worldcoo and its ongoing commitment to developing technological solutions that help improve funding opportunities for social organisations. Initiatives like these allow organisations like ours to dedicate more time, effort and resources to what truly matters: our mission and supporting the people we serve.

Since 2014, thanks to their collaboration and the solidarity of thousands of people, more than €96,000 has been raised to support both leukaemia research projects and the “A Home Away from Home” programme, which provides free accommodation for oncohaematological patients and their families who need to travel in order to receive treatment.
