Days after performing a concert at London’s Hampton Court, José Carreras will carry out today a recital at Zurich Opernhaus for the benefit of the fight against leukaemia.

With the goal to rise funds for the fight against leukaemia, José Carreras will offer tonight a concert against leukaemia in Zurich’s Opernhaus accompanied at the piano by Maestro Lorenzo Bavaj. During the performance, Carreras will interpret songs by Gardel, Tosti, Puccini or Grieg.

The prestigious Swiss watch and jewellery company Chopard sponsors this charity concert. Chopard’s contribution will be entirely destined to the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation . Chopard and the José Carreras Foundation have a special relationship since the beginnings of the Foundation. Mr Karl Scheufele and his family, owners of Chopard, have supported the fight against leukaemia since the beginning organising charity concerts, creating charity products and participating actively in other events. Chopard also supported the creation of the International Carreras Foundations in Geneva (Switzerland) and Munich (Germany) in 1991 and 1995, respectively.

With recitals like these, the José Carreras Foundation can continue carrying out its tasks: strengthen scientific research, find bone marrow donors for patients who do not have compatible member in their family, provide hospital infrastructures and provide social services to families without economic resources. All this to reach its goal: to make leukaemia a curable disease in all cases.
