José Carreras, along with soprano Anna Netrebko and baritone Erwin Schrott, act in Geneva against leukaemia.

On Sunday January 20th, Josep Carreras will give a recital at the Victoria Hall in Geneva in aid of the leukaemia Foundation that bears his name and ‘Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott for Kids’, a non-profit organization that offers health aid for children. Josep Carreras, together with the Russian soprano Anna Netrebko and the baritone Erwin Schrott, will perform a wide repertoire with pieces by Catalan, French and Italian composers, among others. The Gstaad Festival Orchestra, conducted by Maestro David Giménez, will also participate in this non-profit show.

The Swiss watch and jewellery brand, Chopard, sponsors this charitable evening. Chopard’s contribution will be entirely devoted to the José Carreras Foundation against Leukaemia and the ‘Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott for Kids’. The Chopard brand and the José Carreras Foundation keep a close relationship since the creation of the entity. Mr. Karl Scheufele and his family, Chopard owners, have supported the fight against leukaemia from the start by organizing non-profit concerts, creating charitable products and actively participating in other events. Chopard also supported the creation of the José Carreras International Foundations in Geneva (Switzerland) and Munich (Germany) in 1991 and 1995, respectively.

With performances like these, the José Carreras Foundation can continue to carry out its task: promote scientific research, find bone marrow or umbilical cord blood donors for patients who do not have a compatible family member, provide hospital infrastructure and provide social services for families who do not have financial resources. All this to achieve its goal someday: that leukaemia is a curable disease in all cases.
