José Carreras receives an Honorary Degree by the Sarre University, in Germany

José Carreras has been honoured today with the title Doctor Honoris Causa in musicology by the Sarre University, in Germany.

“With this honorary degree in musicology, the Philosophy faculty wants to pay tribute to one of the greatest interpreters of opera repertoire”, as well as a “great person”, said the director of the School of Musicology at Sarre University, Rainer Kleinertz.

“I am truly happy with this recognition of my musical work by a University which has also joined out fight against leukaemia”, said José Carreras.
