Before starting the show, which included the attendance of Mr. José Carreras, the General Director of Stage Entertainment, Julia Gómez Caro, handed the Catalan tenor the quantity raised for the José Carreras Foundation, whose objective is that leukaemia will one day be 100% curable. Joining them in stage was Arnau, an 11 year old patient of leukaemia. José Carreras thanked the public’s presence, which included many patients and ex patients, and said that, in spite of the progress acquired during the last 24 years, there is still a long way to go.

It’s because of this that “Les Miserables” wanted to say farewell in a unique and special way in Barcelona, supporting an institution so prestigious and fighting for a good cause, like the José Carreras Foundation.
