Once more, German people have demonstrated their enormous generosity answering José Carreras’ call against leukemia.

The XIVth Charity Gala of the José Carreras Leukemia Foundation has raised 5,600,000 euro. This charitable marathon was celebrated on December 18th in Leipzig (Germany) and broadcast by the first channel of German television, ARD.

To reach this success, José Carreras was accompanied by different popular artists: Judy Weiss, Chris de Burgh, Daliah Lavi, André Rieu, Tony Henry, Rosenstolz, Mike Batt, Sarah Connor, Michele Tiziano or Petter Maffay and the renowned violinist Anne-Sophie Mütter.

All the charitable galas organized by the José Carreras Leukemia Foundation have raised more than 85 million euro to fight against leukemia. The Foundation invests these funds in scientific research and social services for patients and their families.

More than 600 scientific and social projects have been carried out thanks to the solidarity of German people. Part of the funds raised by the Gala has also been used to finance joint scientific research projects between German and Spanish research centers.
