This year, the winner of the European Haematology Association/José Carreras Foundation fellowship was Robert S. Welner Ph.D. with the project entitled “B-catenin maintains leukemic stem cells by suppressing transcription factors required for differentiation“. The research will be carried out in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston. The total amount of this fellowship is 50.000€ per year (3 years).

Since 1999, the European Haematology Association (EHA) has offered a biannual fellowship to young European haematologists sponsored by the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation. Candidates should be 38 or younger and licensed doctors specializing in haematology. The three José Carreras Foundations established in Europe (Spain, Germany and Switzerland) are co-financiers of the project.
