The José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation has taken part these past days, as an invitee association, in the first executive meeting of the European Partnership Against Cancer

The organizing committee invited different State Members and some associations chosen for their efforts in the fight against cancer on an international level. These associations, among which the José Carreras Foundation, will be included in the European Union’s health programme in order to set the global action strategy of the Union against Cancer.

The common goal of this exchange is to integrate each State Member’s plans against cancer and to reduce the illness 15% by 2020.

The European Union’s goal is to reinforce its long-term compromise in the fight against cancer through the organism European Partnership for Action Against Cancer. Its challenge is to support State Members and other agents in their efforts to attack cancer in the most effective way in order to identify and share information and experiences about the prevention and treatment of cancer. This meeting represents a great challenge in order to establish common efforts to fight against this illness. It will also help everyone organize better, manage resources more efficiently and avoid doubling efforts. It’s also a space to exchange visions and establish alliances in the fight against cancer. Among other subjects, there will be a special emphasis on cancer prevention, prioritizing scientific research and data exchange among countries.
