More than 7.4 million euros raised by José Carreras at the XVIII televised gala against leukaemia in Germany

The 18th José Carreras Foundation charity Gala celebrated last night at Leipzig (Germany) achieved its fundaraising record, collecting donations for more than 7.4 million euros.  As with previous editions, this televised event was produced by the German public television channel, ARD.

The “José Carreras Gala”, led every year by José Carreras himself together with another famous public figure, who in this case has been the actress and presenter Kim Fisher; has enjoyed the collaboration of the American artist Anastacia. The singer, who has just launched her new album It’s a Man’s World, suffered from breast cancer in 2003 and is very committed to this cause.  Many artists, who are well known in Germany, also collaborated in the event, such as Andrea Berg, David Garrett or Vicky Leandros, among others.

The eighteen charity galas, which have been organized by José Carreras Foundation in Germany, have raised a total of more than 100 million euros to help in the global fight against leukaemia. In Spain, several projects have been financed thanks to these funds, such as the Umbilical Cord Blood Bank in Barcelona and the Alloreactivity Laboratory established in the Catalan Institute of Oncology.

Thank you very much!
