A home away from home has been one of the 347 projects selected in the “la Caixa” Foundation’s Call for Social Projects Catalonia 2023. With a financial endowment of 10,507,460 euros, this aid will boost the action of the third sector and will enable 165,591 people in vulnerable situations, including oncohaematological patients and their families who have to travel to receive treatment, to be cared for.

With the aim of continuing to promote equal opportunities, to improve the quality of life and to continue to respond to the emerging needs of society, the different projects selected in this new edition of the call for projects fall into one of the following seven areas of action: poverty and social inclusion, people with disabilities or mental disorders, social and occupational integration, health and illness (which includes the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation), the elderly, social action and coexistence and interculturality.

“Organisations play a fundamental role in the social fabric and at the “la Caixa” Foundation we continue to support them in order to be closer to people in vulnerable situations. In this sense, with the new resolution of the Call for Social Projects in Catalonia we want to promote as many projects as possible that have an impact on the people who need them most”, Antoni Vila Bertrán, at the presentation of the resolution of the call, which took place at the CosmoCaixa Science Museum on Monday 6 May and which we attended.

Together, Unstoppable to offer a home away from home for those patients and their families who need it!
