Babies can have leukaemia too

2021

For International Childhood Cancer Day (15th February), the Josep Carreras Foundation launched an initiative to highlight the significance of leukaemia, the most common type of childhood cancer, and specifically that which affects the littlest ones: babies. The Foundation therefore presented two different actions Babies can have leukaemia too.

  • The initiative included an illustrated children’s story ― The strong baby – which tells the story of little Gabriel, a one-year-old boy with leukaemia, and his mother, Almira.
  • Under the same name, the Foundation used a documentary to explore the experiences, fears and emotions experienced by mothers and their little ones when faced with a leukaemia diagnosis.
