Unstoppable Testimonies

Hello everyone! I’m Ángeles, I’m from Seville and on 3 June one year, while I was having a few beers with friends after the lockdown, I noticed a lump on my neck. I didn’t think much of it until I went to the doctor to find out more. That’s how on 14 July 2020 my diagnosis arrived: Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

I’m not going to lie, that diagnosis was the toughest time I had experienced. It took me a few days to digest what I was going through, but then, thanks to the Unstoppables community, I realised that I was not alone and that there were many of us going through a similar situation.

At that point, I decided to look upon the disease and the treatment as a positive experience. I started with a treatment that ended several months later, but it worked! Today, I’m not going to say that I’m glad I had cancer, but I think it has helped me to mature on a personal level.

Now I am even closer to my family and friends, I care only about the things that really matter, I have met many people with incredibly big hearts who are willing to help me without knowing me at all, and I have lost my fear of hospitals.

I would like to thank my parents, my entire family, friends and colleagues for their involvement and the strength they have given me at all times to fight this lymphoma together. You guys are amazing! And to the Josep Carreras Foundation for the work it does, which is so important! I’ll be eternally grateful.
