Unstoppable Testimonies

Hello! My name is Miranda and on 13 August 2020 I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. I was 20 years old. In November 2021 I had to undergo a bone marrow transplant from my father in order to overcome the disease. It was a blow to me and my family. We spent more than a year of much suffering and many treatments, but we also learned a lot about ourselves.

I am very grateful to all the professionals who have been by my side to get me through the worst, for their tireless dedication so that I could overcome my leukaemia, for having supported and cared for me so much with the brain herpes that followed and that kept me in the ICU.

Thank you for helping me to start from scratch in every aspect: to walk, to talk, to eat… Thank you for having put up with my bad temper from me being tired, tired of being there, tired of feeling as if the days didn’t go by… And also, thank you because, apart from taking care of me as incredible professionals, you have become part of my family and friends. Thank you so very much, I will always be grateful.

Thanks to my parents for being there, day and night, at all times. Thank you for being you. Thank you, Dad, for giving me this second chance. Thank you, mum, for being my pillar, for putting up with all those sleepless nights, with the fever, of not knowing where I was, for being there to cheer me up and helping me unwind.
