Hugo was diagnosed when he was just over 4 months old. It was the first time we went to the emergency room because he had spent the night coughing quite badly. That is where our nightmare began.

The subtype of leukaemia that Hugo was diagnosed with had a very poor prognosis and that is scary. It’s even scarier when it’s your child. But I would like to thank his doctors, three great women, and all the professionals who looked after him, nurses, assistants… for their professionalism and kindness with which they treated us.

Hugo was able to recover thanks to an umbilical cord blood donation located by the Bone Marrow Donor Registry (REDMO) of the Josep Carreras Foundation. Is it a coincidence that this baby was born on the same day Hugo was diagnosed? That baby was born to save my baby’s life.

Today Hugo is still smiling and celebrating life, smothering his brother Gael with kisses and mischief, singing songs, tickling, parties in the park with his friends, travelling and grinning from ear to ear.

As parents of an Unstoppable baby we hope that it will always stay that way and that the nightmare we had to live through will never return. We are Unstoppable!
