Hello everyone!

My name is Placi. A year and a half ago there were two cases of leukaemia close to me, so my wife and sister found out about the whole process and became bone marrow donors. I was not overly convinced because I was afraid of the whole process, but thanks to the information I received, I decided to become a donor.

A year after becoming a donor, I was lucky enough to receive a call from the Josep Carreras Foundation telling me that I was compatible with another person. That morning I was both scared and happy, but as the days went by I was elated and excited and looked forward to the day of the donation.

Once the process started, everything was very quick and easy, as they were very attentive at all times, attending to my every need, clarifying all my concerns and making everything as simple as possible.

On the day of the donation I was very nervous because you don’t know what you will have to face, but it was actually quicker and easier than I had expected. The following days I had no discomfort.

Today, after all I have experienced, the satisfaction I have is indescribable. People who have heard about the donation ask you about the process and thank you for your altruism, which makes you even prouder of what you have experienced.

I hope that all the effort made by the Josep Carreras Foundation, the medical team and the donors will be worth it and that, thanks to all of them, we will see more positive cases with each passing day.
